A special event for International Women’s Day proposes this year the Athens International Independent Film Festival, KINO ATHENS, in collaboration with the Embassy of Switzerland in Greece. The Tribute to Women includes the screening of the Swiss film Cascadeuses and the short film El Affaire MIU MIU, part of the Women’s Stories of the House MIU MIU, on Saturday 8 March 2025, 19:30, at Technopolis City of Athens. The screenings will be followed, by a Q&A between the audience and the director Elena Avdija and the discussion will be moderated by Penelopi Theodorakakou, co-founder of the organization Women On Top / WHEN, for the economic and professional empowerment of women, and gender equality and inclusion in the workplace.

Virginie, Petra and Estelle are stuntwomen. They get hit by cars or struck by violent husbands and gangsters, often repeatedly. And every time, they get back up on their feet, ready to shoot the scene as many times as necessary. Freedom, glory or a search for power fuel these women’s desire to push their bodies to the limits. But how much violence are their bodies and minds able to take on?

Nothing went as planned: what seemed to be an original idea (taking an international fashion event to a small town in the Argentine Pampas) ended up as a mysterious affair, with a mannequin who seems to have vanished, and who insists on leaving small clues scattered across the immense plains. But nothing seems to be too strange for Commissioner Sirota and her particular method which, this time, includes a clairvoyant, a legendary detective arriving from Santa Rosa and some picturesque “peritas” who choose to work at night, swinging to the rhythm of Ska. In the middle, a disturbing question: Is it a police case they are dealing with, or is someone taking them (the police, the whole town, the Italians – all of us, perhaps) for a fool?
