Theodore – A Cold Summer at STOA Culture

1 min read

Stoa Culture invites Theodore for a concept concert specially designed for the venue, titled A Cold Summer.

Light, image, and the building’s unique architecture become the backdrop for a unified narrative, moving through moments from his discography as well as new material. A world changing at a pace we can barely comprehend, an ominous present from which we often avert our gaze, and the necessary persistence to find within it light, companionship, and hope.

The theme of this concept is prompted by the upcoming single of the same name, A Cold Summer. The song is based on a true story. On July 16, 1945, at a summer camp in New Mexico, a group of teenage girls was thrown from their beds by the shockwave of the Trinity Test, the first nuclear explosion in history, which had detonated approximately 80 kilometers away. Hours later, white flakes began falling from the sky. It was July. They thought it was snowing. They ran outside and played with the flakes. It was radioactive fallout. Of the 12 girls at that camp, only one survived past middle age. This tragic story mirrors the fragile bubble in which we live.

The concert will be built around an extensive lighting and projection design created exclusively for the venue, which will showcase the architecture of STOA Culture to its audience for the first time. On stage, Theodore will perform with his new band and guest appearances in a one-of-a-kind concert.

Theodore, with 15 years of career and 5 completed albums to his name, has performed at leading festivals across Europe and the US, and in 2019 was selected by Bob Boilen for an NPR Tiny Desk session. Don’t miss this unique concert, which will take place only once.

The show will be opened by THE Astrolabe, the cinematic electro-pop music project created by Athenian artist Thanos Giamas. Since 2024, they have performed live in London and Athens, have accumulated millions of views and streams, and have gained an international media presence, including on Channel 4’s iconic show Sunday Brunch with their LOVERS clip in the United Kingdom and an extended feature in the British edition of Rolling Stone, while also reaching the semi-finals of Sing for Greece (Eurovision 2026) with the song Drop It
