As part of its Summer in the Atrium programme, STOA Culture, with PPC as its Grand Sponsor, presents a special screening of the acclaimed documentary “Super Paradise – The Story of Mykonos” in the atmospheric courtyard of the Arsakeio Arcade. The screening will be followed by an open discussion with director Steve Krikris and producers Paul Typaldos and Daphne Kalafati, before the evening continues with a summer after party.
How did a small Cycladic island become one of the world’s most recognisable destinations? How did Mykonos evolve from the hardship of the post-war years into a global symbol of glamour, moving from a place of freedom and coexistence to one associated with luxury and exclusivity? And what remains of the paradise that first captivated its earliest visitors?
“Super Paradise – The Story of Mykonos” explores the island’s remarkable transformation through a contemporary cinematic language that combines archival footage, Super 8 recreations, drone and mobile phone imagery, and animation. The result is a richly layered cinematic collage that reflects Mykonos itself: a place of striking contrasts, where the serenity of a Cycladic beach exists alongside the intensity of its legendary nightlife.
The documentary is enriched by exclusive interviews with people who have lived, shaped, and experienced the island from different perspectives, including local residents, artists, intellectuals, entrepreneurs, farmers, and long-time visitors who chose Mykonos as their home. Together, their personal stories form a vivid portrait of an island that continues to fascinate, provoke, and reinvent itself.
Following its world premiere at the Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival, Super Paradise – The Story of Mykonos has been screened at numerous international film festivals, including the Los Angeles Greek Film Festival, Greek Film Festival Australia, and the Beldocs International Documentary Film Festival in Serbia, among many others.

Set within one of Athens’ most distinctive historical and architectural landmarks, STOA Culture transforms the Arsakeio Arcade’s atrium into an open-air summer cinema in the heart of the city. After the screening, audiences are invited to stay for a summer after party, extending the evening through music, conversation, and the celebratory atmosphere of the Greek summer.
