Release Athens 2026 welcomes the Pet Shop Boys on Saturday, June 27, at Plateia Nerou.
Four years after their triumphant appearance in 2022 – one of the best shows we have experienced in the festival’s ten-year history – Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe return with an even bigger production, ready to once again deliver one of the most unforgettable nights of this summer – and beyond.
More names will be announced soon.
Pet Shop Boys, the iconic duo of Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe, are officially recognized as the most successful duo in the history of British music, according to the Guinness Book of Records. Since signing with Parlophone in 1985, they have shaped a unique and timeless sound that has defined the course of pop music. With 44 singles in the UK Top 30 – including 22 in the Top 10 and four number-one hits – and 15 studio albums, all of which entered the UK Top 10, their impact on global pop culture remains unparalleled.
Alongside their recording career, they have redefined the live music experience, creating a form of pop theatre through collaborations with visionary directors, designers, and artists such as Derek Jarman, Zaha Hadid, Es Devlin, and Tom Scutt.

Their Dreamworld: The Greatest Hits Live tour – the first greatest hits tour of their career – quickly established itself as one of the most successful live projects of recent years. Now in its fifth year, it has visited 31 countries, with headline performances at major venues and festivals around the world, including Glastonbury Festival, Primavera Sound, Madison Square Garden, Hollywood Bowl, and Hyde Park – confirming their enduring power on stage.

With Ivor Novello and BRIT Awards honoring their lifetime achievement, an impressive range of collaborations – from Dusty Springfield to Madonna and David Bowie – and a body of work spanning musical theatre, ballet, and film scores, Pet Shop Boys have consistently moved beyond the boundaries of pop music, redefining it as an art form that can be at once accessible, radical, intelligent, and emotionally powerful.
