On the occasion of the great artist’s birthday, the Alekos Fassianos Museum invites young and old to visit his impressive works free of charge on Friday 25/10 from 11.00 to 16.00.
“The museum is particularly interesting because it is a concrete example of a successful dialogue between artist and architect. The building has gone through three phases,” says the artist’s daughter, Victoria. “The first was a neoclassical – popular – house, the second became an apartment building for the family’s four children, and the third and final phase was the renovation. On the ground floor of the building we can see works that reflect the Athenian urban aesthetic. We see familiar performances such as the parade and the serenade, the café owners, as well as works that comment on the intense urbanisation of Athens.

On the mezzanine floor of the building, you can get to know the artist better by seeing a reconfiguration of his painting and his relationship with other intellectuals and artists. In the basement we come into contact with mythological representations and heroes. The heroes of his childhood mix with the heroes of Greek mythology to create the eternal hero that is man”.
