Richie Hawtin and Sama’ Abdulhadi in a unique dj set at Terra Vibe Park

Łukasz Twarkowski’s social experiment culminates in an explosive DJ set in the fields of Malakasa at Terra Vibe Park. From 2 past midnight, following the end of the performance “Respublika,” two top names of contemporary electronic music take to the decks: the British-Canadian Richie Hawtin and the Palestinian DJ Sama’ Abdulhadi. A rave experience from which we will all come out a little different and, perhaps, a little more free.

Rave as an act of resistance, revolution, liberation

“Dance with us against the desperate times we live in.” With this phrase, the Polish director, Łukasz Twarkowski, invites us to be part of “Respublika,” the hybrid show he presents from 13 to June 15th at Terra Vibe Park in Malakasa. The performance-happening that arrives to overturn what we have so far considered the norm – in society, the economy, theater, cinema, and human relations – ends with an all-night DJ set in Malakasa, in which everyone can get lost and find themselves.

From the dark techno and minimal sounds of Richie Hawtin to the tribal and oriental influences of Sama’ Abdulhadi, from 2 a.m. past midnight until Sunday morning, June 16th, Terra Vibe Park will be transformed into both an electrifying dancefloor and an “escape landscape” for us to break away, relax, autonomize, and finally dream, together, of a fairer world.

The protagonists of the DJ set

Also known as Plastikman, Richie Hawtin is a highly influential figure in the world of electronic music. With a long and consistent career in the music scene, he has managed to gain the respect and recognition of the audience and the artistic community. Effortlessly combining techno and minimal sounds, Hawtin creates unique soundscapes that transport us to the dark and sometimes mysterious side of electronic music. On Saturday 15 June, he will take to the Terra Vibe stage for a unique DJ set that will make history.

He is joined by Palestinian DJ Sama’ Abdulhadi, who became known and loved by the international techno audience after her appearance on the online platform “Boiler Room” in 2018. With a rich sound and a wide range of moods or, as she says, “Berlin techno but perceived in a Lebanese way”, Abdulhadi aims to put Palestine on the musical map and, through this, contribute to the call for international solidarity, as well as a new, comprehensive understanding of the Middle East.
