Jennie Kapadai – Christos Balaouras – Achilleas Kanellos at THEATRE OF THE NO

THEATRE OF THE NO, Athens first English speaking theatre, presents an enchanting evening of music with the talented duo Jennie Kapadai and Christos Balaouras accompanied by Achilleas Kanellos on double bass. For one night only, on Saturday, 21st December, at 22:30.

From the timeless elegance of the Great American Songbook to the infectious rhythms of 1960s and 70s Brazil, where bossa nova subtly carried anti-fascist messages, their repertoire knows no bounds.

The journey deepens with the dark, atmospheric sounds of 1990s Bristol and culminates in a soul-stirring exploration of the raw, heartfelt blues of the 1940s and 50s. Τhe duet was formed in the winter of 2016, born out of their shared love for jazz, blues, and their numerous offshoots. Their live performances are a dynamic blend, ranging from heart-wrenching ballads to playful ditties, and everything in between always tailored to the vibe of the moment.

At the core of their sound lies the rich tradition of Black music and the spirit of improvisation a thread that binds the diverse styles they perform.
