The Athens-based band returns with new material, inviting us to step out of the comfort of stagnation.
Two years after their debut album “Ripples in a Linear World”, Amnesia Pills return with their new EP titled “Necessary Scars”, marking a mature and dynamic comeback to Athens’ English-speaking alternative scene.
On the occasion of the new release, the band will perform live on Thursday, April 30 at 21:00 at Death Disco, presenting tracks from the new EP along with selected songs from their discography so far. Joining them on stage will be Thaliah.
Remaining true to their signature sound, Amnesia Pills draw influences from the British scene of the 1980s, reinterpreting them through a contemporary sonic lens. Their guitars move between melody and rhythmic intensity, while electronic elements and expressive vocals create an atmospheric and emotive sound that captivates the listener from the very first notes.
The EP “Necessary Scars” includes four tracks: “It Would Be a Shame” (released as a single last December), “Music Is Enough”, “Peace”, and “All This Time”.
Thematically, the songs revolve around the idea of reflection. A reflection on relationships, the present, and the past, highlighting the need for change before stagnation leads to a dead end. Reflection does not always carry the same emotional weight: at times it is bitter, while at others it leads to a form of reconciliation. In any case, “Necessary Scars” embraces the idea that some wounds are necessary in order for us to move forward.

Short Bio
Amnesia Pills are an English-speaking band from the Athenian alternative scene, combining guitar-driven intensity with electronic elements. Their sound draws from the British indie/alternative tradition (Editors, Depeche Mode, New Order, Radiohead, Arcade Fire), among other influences.
They performed at the Rockwave Festival (Vibe Stage) in 2017, while their track “Don’t Be Sad Today” was featured in a TV commercial for IEK AKMH that same year. Since 2016, they have released a series of singles, including “Dance Me”, “Don’t Be Sad Today”, “The Show” (featuring Lou is), “Loner” (featuring Thaliah), and “The Meanest (Call Me Man)”, as well as remixes such as “Dance Me” (Yosebu Remix).

In 2023, they released their debut album “Ripples in a Linear World”, which received positive reviews, along with two remixes of “I’d Never Let Go”, continuing their collaboration with producer and composer Yosebu.
