On Sunday, May 17, in the outdoor space of PLYFA, four distinctive acts from the contemporary scene—creatively engaging with traditional music-come together: Sourloulou Band, Kideria, Laska, and Banda Entopica join forces for a musical journey where dance, celebration, and the shared memories of the Eastern Mediterranean reclaim their place in the present.
ACHOS is an invitation and a call to participate in a festival experience where instruments, voices, and bodies meet in a collective celebration. We approach musical tradition beyond intolerant, fearful, or possessive interpretations, highlighting its open and living nature. One that renders it a shared cultural ground, where the stories and memories of the region’s peoples meet and converse.

The word “achos” refers to a diffuse, prolonged, or muffled sound. It may describe the sound of battle, of festivity, of the sea, or of a storm. The term derives from the ancient Greek word “ēcheō” or “ēchō,” meaning “to echo.”
