Festival Strings Lucerne and Augustin Hadelich perform Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto at Athens Concert Hall, alongside Elgar and Mozart’s “Jupiter”

The distinguished chamber orchestra Festival Strings Lucerne is among the iconic ensembles of Europe’s musical scene, celebrated for its warm sound and its commitment to the refinement and brilliance of the Austro-Hungarian tradition. From its founding to the present day, the orchestra has become synonymous with performances of exceptional aesthetic precision, where textural clarity is paired with deep expressiveness.

At the Athens Concert Hall (Megaron Mousikis Athinon), on Wednesday 28 January at 20:30, Festival Strings Lucerne, under the direction of Daniel Dods, joins forces with one of today’s leading violinists, Augustin Hadelich, an artist of rare musicality and impeccable technique who performs on the historic 1744 Guarneri del Gesù “Leduc/Szeryng” violin. At the heart of the evening lies Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto, one of the most beloved and instantly recognisable works of the Romantic repertoire, whose timeless and irresistible first-movement melody opens up a world of lyricism and youthful intensity.

The programme is complemented by Edward Elgar’s Serenade for Strings, a tender and nostalgic work that marked the composer’s international breakthrough, as well as Mozart’s Symphony No. 41 “Jupiter”, a radiant pinnacle of his symphonic output, where grandeur and Classical balance are combined with unparalleled elegance.
