The Acropolis Museum will celebrate the August Full Moon on Friday, 28 August 2026, by extending its opening hours until midnight, inviting visitors to experience its collections under the moonlit Athenian sky.
Open continuously from 9:00 am to 12:00 midnight, the museum offers a rare opportunity to explore its permanent galleries while enjoying spectacular nighttime views of the Acropolis. General admission tickets apply for entry to the museum, while the ticket office and museum shops will remain open until 11:30 pm.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to discover the temporary exhibition Inspiration: Ancient Greek Art in Italy, with free admission. On view until 30 August, the exhibition brings together 38 exceptional works in ceramic, bronze and marble, many of which have travelled outside Italy for the first time. Through these masterpieces, it explores the influence and enduring legacy of ancient Greek art in Italy, from the Iron Age through to the 20th century.
A guided tour of the exhibition, led by a museum archaeologist, will take place at 6:00 pm. The tour lasts approximately 45 minutes, accommodates up to 30 participants, and requires advance online registration. Bookings open on Monday, 27 July.
As every Friday, the museum’s second-floor restaurant will remain open until midnight. Reservations are required for dinner service. Meanwhile, the Museum of the Excavation will welcome visitors from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm, with last admission at 7:30 pm.
