A taste of France in the heart of Athens

On Sunday, March 1st, from 11:00 to 19:00, Athens will host a full-day celebration dedicated entirely to French gastronomy. With the support of Merci Chef and the Embassy of France in Greece, the French Gastronomy Fair transforms Athens Street Hub into a meeting point of flavors, craftsmanship and culinary savoir-faire.

For one day, visitors will have the opportunity to explore a curated selection of premium French products – not simply as consumers, but as participants in a tasting experience designed to highlight the depth and diversity of French culinary culture.

At the heart of the fair lies an impressive selection of cheeses by Beillevaire: ten different varieties made from cow, goat and sheep milk, accompanied by high-quality butter that reflects the brand’s long-standing tradition in French dairy craftsmanship.

From 11:00 to 15:00, Coup de Pates will offer classic French pastries – pain au chocolat, croissants, mini viennoiseries, pancakes and crêpes – bringing a touch of Parisian morning ritual to the Athenian weekend.

Seafood lovers will discover oysters, lobster and couteaux by Cultimer, while Caviar de Neuvic will present its Baeri and Oscietre caviar (in limited availability), elevating the experience to a refined tasting moment. Premium meat selections by Bigard – including Tomahawk, Rib Eye, Steak and Filet – complete the gastronomic panorama, showcasing the quality and precision associated with French butchery.

The wine and beverage selection is equally distinguished. Champagne Tsarine, Crémant J. Laurens and wines such as Grand Roc, Vieux Collegue, Haut Ventenac, Suau, Loup Bleu and Croix Melier will be available alongside a curated range of premium spirits, inviting visitors to pair flavors thoughtfully and explore regional nuances.

Throughout the day, the venue’s restaurants will reinterpret French inspiration in their own style. La Cave will serve pasta with scallops or lobster, while Four Hands will offer a duck burger with raclette – contemporary dishes that bridge classic French ingredients with modern urban dining.

Live presentations and tastings will unfold during the event, offering guests professional insight into French products, techniques and traditions. More than a marketplace, the French Gastronomy Fair positions itself as a platform of collaboration – between producers, chefs and the local audience.

The event invites the public to spend a day immersed in French culture through taste – a celebration of ingredients, heritage and cross-cultural gastronomic dialogue.

Admission is €20 and includes consumption of the featured products. Caviar and the special dishes of the day are available at an additional cost.

A few words about Athens Street Hub

A new, pioneering food project in Kerameikos, aspiring to become an integral part of the city’s urban culture and gastronomic scene.

Inspired by the philosophy of Box Parks (think London and the U.S.), where food courts are constructed entirely from shipping containers with sustainability and industrial aesthetics at their core, this is a version tailored specifically for Athens.

Colorful containers are transformed into food kiosks and arranged in a way that, as you step inside, you feel as though you’ve entered a small neighborhood square, the green courtyard of an Athenian townhouse, or even an open-air summer cinema. The difference? Here you’ll find some of the city’s best street food, alongside inventive cocktails and aperitivo options – with rotating selections designed to keep the experience fresh every time you visit.
