A symphony of tomato & xinomavro – Celebrating Greek Gastronomy at Hotel Grande Bretagne

1 min read

Hotel Grande Bretagne presents an extraordinary culinary experience celebrating two iconic pillars of Greek gastronomy: the tomato and the Xinomavro. On Thursday, September 25th, 2025, at the Atrium of Alexander’s Lounge, a six-course dinner will bring these elements together in a creative dialogue of flavors, aromas and stories.

Executive Chef Asterios Koustoudis, awarded for his innovative approach to Greek cuisine, presents a menu devoted entirely to a single ingredient: the tomato – humble, yet precious. Inspired by rare heirloom varieties grown exclusively for the hotel on the slopes of Mount Pateras, he reimagines the tomato in a series of dishes that range from traditional to avant-garde, revealing its depth, versatility, and character.

Each course will be paired with a distinctive expression of Xinomavro, the noble Greek grape, carefully selected by Head Sommelier Evangelos Psofidis. Through these pairings, guests will embark on a journey across Greece’s diverse wine regions, discovering the many facets of this celebrated varietal.

Throughout the evening, renowned winemakers will personally present their wines, sharing insights, stories, and secrets behind each label, while grower Nikos Tsompanoglou will introduce his philosophy of natural cultivation and his intimate connection to the land. Together, they illuminate the profound bond that unites terroir, winemaking, and gastronomy – crafting an experience where nature, tradition, and creativity converge.
