Cine Paris Kicks Off the Summer Season on Thursday, May 1

Cine Paris, Athens’ beloved summer cinema, will open its doors for the new season on Thursday, May 1, featuring a handpicked selection of great films curated by Cinobo.

The historic open-air cinema, which reopened last year under the curatorship of the streaming platform Cinobo, continues its tradition of unforgettable screenings.

This summer, cinephiles can once again look forward to a rich program of classics, new releases, and special events, all set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Acropolis.

PROGRAMME

Opening Film: Phaedra | Phaedra (1–4 May)

Jules Dassin reunites with his muse Melina Mercouri in yet another iconic moment of Greek cinema history.

Mondays with Melina

Every Monday, Cine Paris celebrates the legendary Melina Mercouri, presenting her most iconic films in a tribute to a woman who helped shape modern Greek culture.

Screenings:

  • Topkapi (12 May)
  • Never on Sunday (19 May)
  • 10:30 P.M. Summer (26 May)
  • Phaedra (Encore Screening – 2 June)

The Child and the Dolphin

The first Hollywood film ever shot in Greece, starring the one and only Sophia Loren, comes exclusively to Cine Paris from 19 June.

The Fighters of Athens

The landmark first Greek feature film with sound, filmed in pre-war Athens, returns to the big screen for three exclusive early summer screenings.
This rare film will be shown for the first time since the restoration of its lost print by the Greek Film Archive, with the exclusive support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.

The Hate


Mathieu Kassovitz’s gripping masterpiece, which defined an era, marks its 30th anniversary this year and screens at Cine Paris starting 22 May.

The Prospector

On Thursday, 26 June, Cine Paris joins a global celebration with a screening of Charlie Chaplin’s timeless classic The Prospector, marking 100 years since its original premiere.

Kiouka, Before the End of Summer

Following its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival and its sweeping success at the Thessaloniki Film Festival—where it won four major awards—Kostis Charamountanis’ first feature film arrives at Cine Paris on 15 May.

Our Wild Days

The highly anticipated debut feature by Palme d’Or-winning Greek director Vassilis Kekatos, fresh from its premiere at the Berlin Film Festival, screens at Cine Paris starting 12 June.

New Releases

This summer, Cine Paris presents a lineup of exciting new films:

  • Lorra Piaini’s romantic comedy Jane Austen Ruined My Life (from 26 June)
  • The daring French black comedy The Balconettes
  • The most romantic story of the summer, the Spanish film Love in Barcelona.

Love Stories Under the Stars

A special weekly series curated by Cinobo, featuring nine love stories from classic and contemporary cinema, completes Cine Paris’ rich and diverse summer program.
