Cine Paris returns for its third consecutive season following its reopening by Cinobo, once again gaining international recognition. The Athens cinema has been named the best open-air cinema in the world according to the official list by Time Out magazine.

The historic Cine Paris counts more than 100 years of operation and, from the very first moment of its reopening in May 2024, it was embraced like no other open-air cinema in the city. Since then, the Cinobo team has curated a rich programme featuring classic masterpieces, new releases and unique tributes, contemporary Greek cinema, films from the past and important re-releases.
The beloved rooftop cinema of Plaka returns on Thursday, April 23, marking an early start to the summer season. During its first week, it will present two iconic films by Alexis Damianos, Until the Ship Sails and Evdokia, alongside two of this season’s cinematic successes: The Drama starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, and the Golden Lion-winning Father Mother Sister Brother by Jim Jarmusch.

In the following weeks, contemporary productions will follow, including The Devil Wears Prada 2, Pedro Almodóvar’s new film Bitter Christmas, and the Greek film Arkoudotrypa, awarded at the Venice Film Festival and the Thessaloniki International Film Festival, directed by Chrysianna Papadaki and Stergios Dinopoulos. The summer programme will also include classic re-releases such as Amélie, 25 years after its original release, and the legendary A Place in the Sun.

At the same time, three major tribute sections will be presented. Greek Classics (from June 17) will bring masterpieces of Greek cinema to the Cine Paris screen every Wednesday—from Stella to Kyriakatiko Xypnima, Ta Kokkina Fanaria and To Choma Vaftike Kokkino.
The tribute Love Stories Under the Stars (from July 2) will feature some of the most beloved romantic films of the 2000s, including Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Moulin Rouge, Lost in Translation, Chocolat and more. Finally, from August 6 to 12, Cine Paris will present the tribute Jane Austen Ruined My Life, showcasing four films based on the work of Jane Austen, marking 250 years since the birth of the iconic author.
A few facts about Cine Paris
Cine Paris is located on the rooftop of the listed historic building of the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation at 22 Kidathineon Street, offering one of the most beautiful views in Athens. Cinobo undertook the reopening of this historic open-air cinema and, after months of work, has delivered a fully renovated, upgraded venue, now accessible to people with mobility disabilities.

The goal of the Cinobo team was to remain faithful to the tradition and aesthetic of classic summer cinemas, which are a defining element of Athens. The brand and design were created by MB STUDIO of Miltos Boti, the architectural concept by SpatialArchitecture + Design (Vasilina Kaouri and Maro Krouska), and the lighting design by Giorgos Tellos and his company Lighting Art. The cinema is equipped with a state-of-the-art projection system, Dolby 7.1 surround sound speakers, and a new screen ensuring optimal viewing conditions.
