The THEATRE OF THE NO, Athens’ first English-speaking theatre, presents Cat A Strophe by Yoel Wulfhart – a surreal, erotic, and metatheatrical satire where logic clashes with absurdity, chaos turns into a vivid stage experience, and passion meets parody. Starting November 5, every Wednesday at 19:30.
The performance is presented in English with Greek subtitles.
With dark humor, wordplay, and dialogues faster than thought, the play becomes a theatrical game of mind and desire – pulling the audience into laughter, twists, and reflection. Through subtle nods to Emerson, Wilde, and Flaubert, its characters balance between farce and tenderness, raising questions about vanity, identity, and the search for meaning.

Set in a café where the boundaries between creation and obsession, art and flesh, blur, the story follows Beaver, muse and mistress of the scene, as she provokes writer Klutzki and cynic Peckerstein, turning desire into literature and literature into desire. Alongside the playful Pussika, they create a world where the everyday meets the metaphysical – with wit, humor, and revealing moments.

Wild, clever, and mischievous, Cat A Strophe mocks our egos, toys with our need for meaning, and leaves us wondering: Do our lives imitate theatre – or does theatre imitate us?
The play premiered in Philadelphia in 2016, earning praise for its bold and multilayered approach.
THE SPIRIT NEWS: “A philosophical satire wrapped in dark humor; provocative and intellectually stimulating.”
BROAD STREET REVIEW: “A surreal, sexual satire – a complex black comedy worth revisiting,” one that “dares the audience to hate it, yet rewards those with patience.”
FRINGE REVIEW: “An ambitious existential satire disguised as a sitcom,” one that “rewards repeat viewing” and highlights the production’s courage to explore uncertainty.
