The iconic kinetic sculpture “Aioliko” by internationally renowned Greek artist Takis is now installed in the heart of Athens, celebrating 100 years since his birth with a major public art initiative.

The artwork Aioliko by the internationally renowned sculptor Takis is now located in the heart of Athens.

On the occasion of the celebration marking 100 years since the birth of the great artist, the Takis Foundation, in collaboration with the Municipality of Athens, present the installation of one of his most characteristic and iconic works in central Athens, specifically at the intersection of Voukourestiou and Panepistimiou streets.

This work forms part of a series of initiatives honoring the artist’s multifaceted career, which includes major exhibitions and public-space presentations of his work, such as the large retrospective at the Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation, as well as installations at the Athens International Airport and the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center.

The Mayor of Athens and his team expressed their honor and joy at the integration of a work of international stature into the city’s urban fabric, emphasizing the importance of art in public space and citizens’ access to pioneering artistic creations.

The initiative is supported by the Panas Group. The installation of the artwork marks a significant moment for Athens, bringing residents and visitors into direct contact with the dynamic and contemporary dimension of Greek sculpture and kinetic art, while honoring the legacy of one of Greece’s most important artists on the international stage.
