The Authentic Sound of Chicago Blues Live at Jazzèt with the Explosive Michael Dotson

1 min read

Jazzèt Music Hall welcomes, on Saturday, January 17, 2026, one of the most authentic representatives of Chicago Blues: the explosive guitarist, singer, and songwriter Michael Dotson. An evening of pure “house-rockin’ blues,” filled with intensity, groove, and atmosphere straight from the historic blues clubs of Chicago.

Born and raised in South Side Chicago, Michael Dotson grew up immersed in the scene that brought forth legends such as Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, and Junior Wells. He was a core member of Magic Slim & the Teardrops, the band that received the W.C. Handy Award as “Best Blues Band in the World,” and has collaborated with leading figures of the contemporary blues scene. As a solo artist, he has released two critically acclaimed albums, while in recent years he has toured internationally as a member of the multi-award-winning Mississippi Heat.

Following his recent sold-out performances, Dotson returns to Jazzèt, joined by two top Greek blues musicians, Fotis Daskalakis (bass) and Nikos Tsavalos (drums). The trio promises a high-energy live performance, faithful to the spirit and raw power of authentic Chicago blues.

Parallel Exhibition at Artega Gallery (Jazzèt Music Hall)

Alongside the Chicago blues live performance, Jazzèt Music Hall also hosts a visual art experience within the same space. At Artega Gallery, the solo exhibition Eikós by Vienna-based Austrian artist Lisa Waldner explores the ancient Greek concept of eikós—the plausible and the seemingly true—through fluid, atmospheric paintings that hover between reality and appearance. Curated by art historian Aias Christofis and accompanied by a sound installation by composer Lefteris Sotiropoulos, the exhibition expands the sensory experience of the venue, inviting visitors into a unified field of image, sound, and perception.
