The Theatre of the NO presents a special tribute to Nina Simone, one of the most significant and influential voices of 20th-century music.
On Saturday, March 7 at 21:30, audiences are invited to an intimate musical experience, where the performances convey Simone’s intensity, political fire, and profound artistic sensitivity. The concert brings to the forefront an exceptional quartet, featuring the enchanting voice of Tali Atzmon and the acclaimed saxophonist and composer Gilad Atzmon. With a fresh jazz approach, the program highlights both Simone’s classic hits and her lesser-known songs.
Nina Simone (1933–2003) was a pianist, singer, and composer with a unique ability to blend jazz, blues, soul, and classical music. Her voice was not only an artistic instrument but also a powerful tool for social awakening, through songs that spoke of human rights, equality, and freedom.
Beyond iconic pieces such as “Feeling Good,” “I Put a Spell on You,” and “Love Me or Leave Me,” Simone is also associated with lesser-known masterpieces like “I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel to Be Free,” “Do I Move You,” and “I Loves You Porgy,” works that reveal her emotional intensity and experimental artistic nature.
