Release Athens 2026 welcomes Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds on Wednesday, June 24, at Plateia Nerou, in a landmark year marking the festival’s 10th anniversary. The Australian artist and his band return to Greece, four years after their unforgettable performance at the same venue, for another major night as part of the Wild God Tour-already hailed as one of the most powerful live experiences of recent years worldwide.
More names will be announced soon.
Formed in 1983 after the breakup of The Birthday Party, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds quickly became one of the most groundbreaking and acclaimed bands of the post-punk era. Their sound has evolved continuously over the decades, alongside their leader’s lyrical vision: from the dark chaos of From Her to Eternity (1984) to the contemplative tone of Wild God (2024), Cave and the Bad Seeds have never ceased creating songs that touch millions around the world-securing a lasting place in rock ’n’ roll history.

Though the band’s lineup has changed over the years, the Bad Seeds have remained a musical force as vital as their frontman, enriched by major artistic personalities (now including Colin Greenwood of Radiohead) who sustain Cave’s work with rare consistency and creative depth. Their latest album, Wild God, received outstanding reviews and entered the Top 10 charts in several countries.
The accompanying tour not only sold out its European leg but was widely acclaimed as one of the most intense and emotionally charged live experiences of our time, an electrifying spectacle of melancholy and redemption, marked by Cave’s singular connection with the audience.
On Wednesday, June 24, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds return to Release Athens and Plateia Nerou to deliver a setlist spanning four decades of their career, reminding us why they remain one of the most thrilling live acts on the planet.
