“LONE” – A multimedia performance of live electronic music, visuals and movement at Newman Cinema

1 min read

Newman Cinema becomes a stage for music, performances and multimedia actions, creating a space where image, sound and movement coexist in real time.

Within Newman’s Parallel Program, artists draw on the possibilities of the audiovisual medium in dialogue with visual and performing arts, presenting performances that propose new narratives. The cinematic screen becomes part of the creative process rather than a mere surface for projection, while each performance highlights the unique relationship between image, sound and body.

The venue has hosted multimedia performances and concerts by artists such as Nikos Veliotis, Kalliopi Mitropoulou, Kalogerakia and Sissy Doutsioú. At the same time, multimedia dance performances, Live Cinema events and photography exhibitions have established Newman as a venue of ongoing, live creation.

 “LONE”

A multimedia performance of live electronic music, real-time & interactive visuals and movement

Newman’s Parallel Program presents LONE, a multimedia performance of live electronic music, real-time & interactive visuals and movement. On the stage of Newman Cinema, on February 2, 3 and 9, 10 at 21:00, Anna Papaioannou Anna Vs. June, Alexandra Niaka and Marietta Manaroli come together.

Three artistic media, sound, body and digital projection  intertwine in real time, exploring analogies between human nature and artificial systems, as they navigate the uniqueness of individual trajectories. The interactive visuals, using depth-tracking sensors and live-feed cameras, form landscapes and digital reflections, while the sound installations shape shifting atmospheres of hospitality and challenge. The body is revealed as a vessel of memory and a means of action, responding to audiovisual nodes through the creation of a cycle of interaction between physical movement and digital response.

LONE engages with a fundamental condition of human existence: the experience of the journey as a fragment. It is a performance that, by embodying this complex process, evolves, transforms and reveals the outcome of the process itself. A continuous search, a field of relations, a revelation.
