The Athens Street Food Festival kicks off on Friday, May 8. This year, the country’s biggest food festival celebrates its 10th anniversary with countless original flavors from all around the world.
Want a taste of what we’re preparing? Here are just some of the dishes you’ll be able to try exclusively at the Athens Street Food Festival: suckling pig ramen, chicharrón, Japanese octopus takoyaki, Nigerian falafel, Korean fried chicken, jackfruit cheesesteak, supplì, fried gnocchi, black pizza, sushi with Greek amberjack and grouper, black burgers with sheep’s meat patties and Vermio biscuits, seafood cones, wagyu beef gyozas, miso carbonara ramen, Basque burnt cheesecake, and UFO burgers filled with chocolate.
Across the three long weekends of May (8–9–10, 15–16–17, and 22–23–24 May), dozens of pop-up food spots featuring both acclaimed and emerging chefs will present their own unique take on the ultimate street food experience, drawing inspiration from Japan, Korea, Mexico, Nigeria, Egypt, China, Spain, Italy, the United States, Turkey, the Middle East, and, of course, Greece. There will also be plenty of vegan options, as well as inventive desserts.
Naturally, the Athens Street Food Festival is also about the festival atmosphere. Every day, well-known radio producers will curate the music, while every evening at 21:00 a big party with famous DJs will take over the venue.
This year’s edition will also feature two special stand-up comedy performances: on Friday, May 8, Alexandros Tsouvelas will present a unique “Meat Grill Comedy” show, while on Friday, May 15, Dimitra Nikitea and Melina Kollia will perform their own “Bouti Comedy” show.
