A psychedelic soul night in the heart of Athens

As part of its “Summer in the Atrium” programme, STOA Culture, with PPC as Grand Sponsor, welcomes Hidroliq and Sugahspank! for a special musical encounter that brings the pulse of the contemporary jazz, funk, and soul scene to the Atrium of the historic Arsakeio Arcade.

Emerging on the Athenian music scene in 2022, Hidroliq introduced a fresh and eclectic sound that refuses to be confined by genre boundaries. Rooted in jazz improvisation and driven by the powerful rhythms of funk, the band explores the intensity of rock, the immediacy of hip hop, and the atmospheric textures of neo-soul and drum ’n’ bass, creating a distinctive musical language that balances experimentation with groove.

Having already made a strong impression through performances at notable venues and festivals, including Gazarte and the Rhodes Jazz Festival, Hidroliq have earned a reputation for their explosive energy and compelling stage presence. At the same time, they are currently working on their debut album, featuring original compositions that capture the essence of their evolving sound.

For this special performance at STOA Culture, they join forces with Sugahspank!, one of the most distinctive and celebrated voices of the Greek music scene. Known for her deeply soulful interpretations, magnetic stage presence, and constant artistic curiosity, Sugahspank! has forged a unique path that moves effortlessly between soul, jazz, blues, and contemporary musical forms.

The collaboration between Hidroliq and Sugahspank! promises an evening where groove, psychedelia, and improvisation converge in a vibrant musical journey. “Psychedelic Soul Session” is a celebration of contemporary music-making, bringing together jazz, soul, funk, and spontaneous creativity within the unique atmosphere of Athens’ summer city centre.
