Life Cycles: Four Greek Women Artists in Dialogue at Amanzoe

This summer, the serene landscape of Amanzoe becomes the setting for an ambitious artistic encounter. In collaboration with Zoumboulakis Galleries, the Peloponnese retreat presents Life Cycles, a group exhibition bringing together four leading Greek women artists whose works explore memory, transformation, resilience, and the passage of time. Running from 22 May to 31 October 2026, the exhibition unfolds across the resort’s architecture and gardens, inviting visitors to experience contemporary art beyond the conventional gallery setting.

Conceived as an intergenerational dialogue, Life Cycles marks the first time that artists Marina Karella, Alexandra Athanassiades, Nikomachi Karakostanoglou and Despina Flessa present their work together. Installed throughout Amanzoe’s defining spaces, their sculptures engage in a subtle conversation with the resort’s colonnaded walkways, courtyards and panoramic gardens, creating a layered narrative about continuity and renewal.

In the Library and its adjoining terrace, Marina Karella presents a selection of sculptures exploring light, shadow and drapery, motifs deeply connected to classical Greek visual culture. Works such as The Gold Cloth and Hibiscus reflect her long-standing interest in the relationship between the ephemeral and the enduring, balancing references to antiquity with a distinctly contemporary sensibility.

Elsewhere, Alexandra Athanassiades’ sculptures from the Armour and Horses series punctuate the lavender gardens. Known for her hand-hammered forms, Athanassiades investigates the tension between inner identity and outward appearance, creating works that speak of resilience and the traces left by time.

On the poolside terrace, Nikomachi Karakostanoglou presents Sacred Vessels, a series of luminous marble sculptures inspired by ancient votive objects. Through an intuitive and experimental approach, her works invite reflections on memory, regeneration and the enduring dialogue between material and light.

Completing the exhibition, Despina Flessa contributes sculptures from her Fossils and Shades series alongside graphite works from Folding Landscapes. Drawing inspiration from archaeology and imagination, Flessa explores the fragile boundary between presence and absence, offering poetic meditations on what survives, disappears and is rediscovered over time.

More than a temporary exhibition, Life Cycles extends Amanzoe’s long-standing connection to Greek culture and place. Guests can engage with the artworks through guided tours, artist encounters and curated experiences designed to integrate art into everyday life. In a setting where nature, architecture and history already coexist in quiet harmony, the exhibition offers a compelling reflection on the cycles that shape both landscapes and human experience.
