“violet76 – is that horror?”: Christina Skoutela’s dancegig at ILION Plus

1 min read

“violet76 – is that horror?” is a dancegig balancing between choreography, concert, and cinematic nightmare. A collective experience of sharing the live stage, inspired by the explosive energy of punk, the anxiety of horror films, and the need for free expression.

The three performers – Chris Scott, Giorgos Athanasiou of Deftera, and Christina Skoutela – come together, surrender their bodies to a wild journey of musical and physical intensity, and ask: is it horror?

Artistic Note

Run–Scream–Collapse–Repeat.
I want my dance to vibrate like an electric guitar, or bass, or drums. A sense of urgency – I don’t remember why – I once said I would create a performance that shares the energy of a punk concert and the limitless expenditure of dancing. And I will play the drums.

“violet76 – is that horror?” is a dancegig about the wildness of the body, of thought and imagination; about overstimulated exhaustion, heartless romanticism, nightmarish rage. It is mainly a challenge to confront what exceeds me, but also a reminder to myself that the way we experiment on stage is also a way of existing — in the studio, in life — as friends and collaborators who jam, create, and think together.
