How well do you know the trails of Laconian Parnon? How many times have you run at altitude, surrounded by fir and pine trees, with nature setting the pace and the gaze drifting toward the mountain peaks?
The Vamvakou Mountain Run returns for its 6th year, once again inviting runners from across Greece to one of the most authentic mountain landscapes of the Peloponnese. On Sunday, June 7, 2026, the beautiful village of Vamvakou in Laconia will once again become the starting point, meeting place, and celebration hub for mountain running. The beloved race returns dynamically, combining physical challenge, constantly changing landscapes, and the unique hospitality of a small village that is experiencing a remarkable revival.
The event is organized by the non-profit organization Vamvakou Revival, as part of the broader Vamvakou Revival Initiative, and is implemented with the support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF). Its goal is to highlight the natural wealth of the region and encourage participation in outdoor activities immersed in nature. The race is overseen by Ioannis Dimopoulos, runner and coach.

The 6th Vamvakou Mountain Run includes three routes of different distances (29 km, 19 km and 7 km), designed to meet the needs of both experienced athletes and amateur runners who want to enjoy a complete mountain experience. The routes pass through gorges, forest roads, and marked trails, starting from the village square at 950 meters altitude and reaching higher elevations of up to 1900 meters, touching the heart of Mount Parnon.
The race is accompanied by official electronic timing, commemorative participation medals, award ceremonies, and special prize draws. Each year, the event attracts hundreds of runners and visitors who fill Vamvakou with life, energy, and smiles.
Building on the success of its previous five editions and the strong community of runners that supports it, the Vamvakou Mountain Run continues to stand out as a unique mountain running event and an experience that goes far beyond sport.
