A meeting of mainland and insular Greece on the occasion of Place and Landscape.
Four days full of theater, dance, music, exhibitions, storytelling as well as folk art lessons through a contemporary perspective are waiting for you in Sifnos between the 26th and 29th of September with free entrance. An explosive combination of all forms of expression from the insular and mainland Greece.
The brand new THEES ART FESTIVAL is the foundation on which the concepts of Place and Landscape are taking shape through contemporary artistic creation.
We will visit the ancient mining sites of Sifnos that are transformed into a great setting for a magical performance, we will make a circle at a beautiful church to listen to tales of our folk traditions while in the wonderful Cycladic Cultural Centre “Marianthi Simou” we will enjoy theatrical performances from Ioannina and Sifnos, visual arts inspired by landscapes and mining materials, the contemporary dance performance “Shifting Grounds”, the subversive music band “Local Heroes” as well as two workshops where we are going to learn about the ancient art of basket weaving and felt making.
The THEES ART FESTIVAL is organized by the Adults’ Theatre Workshop of Sifnos and is carried out along with the Region of South Aegean, with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture and the support of the Municipality of Sifnos.
