Curated by Simoni Studio, the event is part of The Arts Club, a series of art nights designed to bring a refreshing artistic breeze to the city of Thessaloniki
On Thursday 13 February, Bord de l’eau and its curator Eleni Simoni welcome artist Smaro Tahmadzidou in a special opening party embracing and presenting the artist’s bookish series of works, which is about books.
Each painting emerges from an emotional and/or imaginative reaction to a stimulus. Across a wide range, artist Smaro Tahmadzidou draws inspiration from books in the sciences and humanities.
The exhibition bookish is a visual tribute to books. On a white background, monograms form bookcases full of books, dominated by the use of marker lines, while the image is completed by the human body painted in oil.

Smaro Saliv was born in Thessaloniki, Greece. She studied at the School of Fine Arts of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, in the Department of Visual and Applied Arts, where she graduated in 2016. He continued with postgraduate studies (MSc) in the field of Strategic Product Design at the International Hellenic University, with a focus on Product Creativity and Design, which he completed in 2019. He is currently studying at the Department of Interior Architecture at the same university.
The visual artist has been involved in various techniques, artistic movements and pursuits, with an anthropocentric focus. Stylistically, she moves around Abstract Expressionism and Realism. Thematically, he has focused for several years on the human being, creating portraits in charcoal and oil.
“Man is not a subject, he is the speaking fragment of the world”. Man often speaks through art, complementing the thought of the beloved Costas Axelos.
The exhibition will be open from Thursday 13 February to Wednesday 19 February. The place will be open as usual, with dancing, discos, great cocktails and DJs spinning funky rhythms.
Curated by Simoni Studio, the event is part of The Arts Club, a series of art nights designed to bring a refreshing artistic breeze to the city. These nights celebrate creativity, promote innovation and encourage the coexistence of different artistic expressions.
