From Athens to the world: redefining work, travel, and connection together

The Athens Nomad Fest returns for its second consecutive year, establishing itself as one of Europe’s most inspiring gatherings for digital nomads, remote workers, and online entrepreneurs from around the world. Taking place September 12–19, 2025, at The Hub Events in Athens, the festival brings together over 120 participants, including industry leaders, innovators, and creatives, with a shared vision: to connect, inspire, and empower the rapidly growing global community of location-independent professionals.

This year’s program goes beyond traditional conferences, offering workshops, bootcamps, networking dinners, cultural tours, yoga sessions, and island getaways, creating opportunities for genuine connections and transformative experiences. From exploring AI-powered tools and building passive income streams to community building and time management strategies, the Athens Nomad Fest provides practical insights and fresh perspectives for anyone embracing a border less lifestyle.

Organized by Nomad365, Nomad Career, Avnea, and Not Just a Tourist, the festival is led by a team of visionary digital nomads – Dimitris Tselios, Lotus Vrijma, Mahsa Homayounfar, and Marko Korvesi – who are redefining what it means to live, work, and thrive without borders.

In the following interview, festival co-organizer Dimitris Tselios shares the vision behind the Athens Nomad Fest, the evolution of its identity, and how Athens is shaping up to become one of Europe’s most dynamic hubs for digital nomads.

The Athens Nomad Fest returns for its second year. What is the core vision behind the festival, and how would you say its identity has evolved compared to last year’s edition?

Our core vision remains the same: to establish Athens – and Greece more broadly – as one of the most significant hubs for digital nomads in Europe. In the first year, our goal was to present this vision and connect key stakeholders, from co-working spaces and municipalities to property management associations. This year, the festival’s identity has matured: we’ve enriched the program with workshops and bootcamps included in the ticket, invited more international speakers, and introduced a three-day island trip, so the experience goes beyond the scope of a traditional conference and becomes a true journey of knowledge, inspiration, and connection.

Digital nomads seek not only professional opportunities but also meaningful human connections. How does this year’s program foster a sense of community and create experiences that go beyond typical networking events?

Our philosophy is that real value lies in human relationships. That’s why we’ve designed workshops and bootcamps that provide practical tools and knowledge through interactive learning and collaboration. At the same time, we’re organizing networking dinners, cultural and culinary experiences, yoga sessions, and parties, enabling participants to connect on a personal level and build friendships and collaborations that last well beyond the festival itself.

The festival dedicates a significant part of its program to exploring the city and its local culture. What do you believe makes Athens an ideal meeting point for digital nomads, and how is this identity reflected in the festival experience?

Athens offers a unique blend: rich history, vibrant contemporary culture, and a lifestyle deeply rooted in hospitality. For digital nomads, it provides a relatively affordable cost of living compared to other EU countries, reliable infrastructure, access to both sea and mountains, and more than 300 days of sunshine each year. At the festival, we integrate this identity by including visits to the Acropolis and Acropolis Museum, food tours through local markets and restaurants, collaborations with small local businesses, and a three-day trip to Poros. This way, participants don’t just learn about the culture and the people – they live the experience of Athens and Greece as a whole.

Dimitris Tselios is a Life & Business Strategist, Author, and Digital Nomad with over 30 years of experience in entrepreneurship. For the past 13 years, he has worked fully remotely, living and traveling across different countries, mainly in Asia. He is the founder of Nomad365 and the organizer of the international festivals Athens Nomad Fest and Da Nang Nomad Fest in Vietnam. Additionally, he serves as a consultant for the European Horizon R-map.eu program, which studies the impact of remote work on regional and metropolitan areas.
