everynight is a moving-image programme unfolding across the city, drawing its theme from the dream experiences of invited contemporary visual artists. From 2 to 14 December, every night, the works appear as interventions before the main screening in selected cinemas across Athens.
On 15–16 December, the programme continues with a two-day event of moving image, music, poetry, and site-responsive interventions at the abandoned Alphaville cinema. The programme concludes in January 2026 with the lecture-performance “Last Movies” by artist and filmmaker Stanley Schtinter at the Greek Film Archive.
The programme is curated by Panos Fourtoulakis and developed in collaboration with the independent art space 3 137.
everynight invites contemporary visual artists from Athens and around the world (France/Lebanon, Germany, India, Iran/Canada, Palestine, and the USA) to present moving-image works of up to five minutes, inspired by dreams they have experienced or imagined.

In a landscape of successive crises, the present seems incomprehensible-shattered, fragmented, overwhelmed by a torrent of information constantly vying for our attention. Through the lens of dreaming, everynight maps an intimate, subjective cartography of our fractured present, in Athens and internationally. The city’s ever-changing urban environment becomes both subject and backdrop.
From 2 December, every night for two weeks, a different work is inserted into each cinema’s scheduled programme-screened before the evening’s feature film, woven discreetly among the trailers, gently disrupting the usual cinematic experience and creating space for unexpected encounters. Screenings will take place at Athenee, Diana, Mikrokosmos, and Studio New Star Art Cinema.
The works will then be shown together in the abandoned Alphaville cinema in Exarchia, resonating with lost dreams. Closed since 2008, Alphaville reopens for 48 hours on 15 and 16 December, hosting a fluid sequence of moving images, music, poetry readings, and site-responsive interventions.
Musician Vicky Steiri will present a live set for cello and electronics. Poet and writer Dimitra Ioannou, alongside other writers and artists, will read texts inspired by their dreams, using the dream as a way to understand the city. Chrysanthi Koumianaki, through her intervention, explores the relationship between private and public identities as shaped by the shifting realities of gentrified urban space in Athens, while engaging with the remnants of the cinema’s past. Alphaville is approached as a forgotten monument of twentieth-century culture, inviting visitors to wander through its layers of history and memory.
everynight concludes in January 2026 with “Last Movies” by British artist and filmmaker Stanley Schtinter, offering the Athenian audience the opportunity to see “what those who see no more saw last.” Presented as a lecture-performance at the Greek Film Archive, Last Movies constructs a century of Western cinema through the final films watched before death by emblematic figures of twentieth-century culture such as Kurt Cobain, Bette Davis, Franz Kafka, Pier Paolo Pasolini, among others.
everynight focuses on moving-image artistic practices and their relationship to cinema—a field still underrepresented in the contemporary Greek art scene. At the same time, it highlights the crucial role Athenian movie theatres have played in shaping collective experience and imagination, as an integral part of the city’s cultural identity.
Curated by Panos Fourtoulakis and developed in collaboration with the independent art space 3 137, everynight is realised with funding and under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, supported by the 2025 ARTWORKS Grants funded by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) and other private donors, and with additional support from NEON. The production of the exhibition at the old Alphaville cinema is supported by Onassis AiR.
