LIVE: Ambassade coming to Athens and Thessaloniki

3 mins read

Ambassade move within the experimental electronic scene, somewhere between cinematic synths and strong new wave references. They create intimate sonic worlds, at times darker, at times softer sounds we’ve encountered in DJ sets, whether sitting at the bar or lost on the dance floor.

Manrira, their new album, is released on May 8 via Pinkman Records, inviting listeners into an audiovisual experience where organic and digital elements meet, clash, and transform. Through these “fractures,” atmospheric sound structures emerge, blending neoclassical elements with synths, ethereal vocals, and rhythms driven by drum machines.

On May 15 and 16, 2026, they arrive in Greece for two live performances in Athens and Thessaloniki, joined by artists who move creatively across the wider spectrum of electronic and synth/wave sounds.

Ambassade
The cold wave / minimal synth duo from Amsterdam, in their new formation, turns toward more collaborative, audiovisual performances, combining the transformative power of their music with visuals that lead the audience into an immersive live experience.

From the more song-driven approach of Duistre Kamers (2019), they evolve with The Fool (2023) toward a more experimental direction, opening their sound to soundscape structures, unconventional instruments, and contemporary production techniques.

This spring, they present their new audiovisual work The Tale of Manrira, an immersive live experience focusing on the relationship between voice, body, and space, combining live bass, neoclassical elements, synthesizers, and ethereal vocals with drum machine-driven rhythms. With visual narration by Marcel Constantin Wilkens, the project invites the audience on a contemplative journey, redefining the connection with the environment and the contemporary dystopian world.

GUEST ACTS – ATHENS

Echo Canyon

Under the alias Echo Canyon, Athenian producer and sound artist Dimitris Patsaros blends elements of jungle, ambient, electro, dancehall, dub, and krautrock into a distinctive personal style.

He develops abstract dance structures using polyrhythms, field recordings, and noise over an unstable dancefloor, drawing influence from the intensity of punk, the physical force of low frequencies, and the potential of sound as material.

Metaman

The Athenian producer and co-founder of WonTon records made his debut in 2020 with the album IRINA, with his collaboration with Lena Platonos on the title track placing him among the top domestic albums of the year.

His fascination with analog synths, endless compositional sequences, and narratives of everyday urban life continues in his second LP, aptly titled MATAIOSI (2022). With notable consistency, he returned at the end of 2024 with his latest release METAMAN Vs Dr Rave on Inner Ear Records.

His experience curating the Agoraphobic Festival 2024 and his interaction with audiences during live performances are reflected in this album, which has been described by media as his most extroverted and pop-oriented work to date.

His live performances vary significantly, as they rely heavily on the synthesizers featured in his recordings, shifting continuously from hypnotic trip hop to acid rave, while his stories are narrated on stage by performer Irene Dendi.
