A special musical encounter will take place at the Olympia Municipal Music Theatre “Maria Callas” on Tuesday, March 24 at 20:30. The Athens Municipality Symphony Orchestra joins forces with the quintet of Dimitris Kalantzis, offering a jazz “translation” of the work of Manos Hadjidakis.
Titled “Jazz Tribute to Manos Hadjidakis,” the concert proposes a contemporary interpretation of the music of the great Greek composer. It unfolds as a vivid dialogue between jazz improvisation and classical orchestral textures, highlighting the universality and timelessness of Hadjidakis’ melodies.
This collaboration is based on the album “Mano’s” (Verve–Universal), released in 2011, which became a rare phenomenon on the jazz scene, achieving platinum status. Following performances at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, in New York, and at major international festivals, this distinctive musical experience now arrives in the heart of Athens, bringing audiences closer to the global language of jazz while maintaining deep respect for the aesthetic integrity of the original works.
