The sixth edition of Athens’ festival of artistic publishing, the Athens Art Book Fair (AABF), takes over the labyrinthine Stoa Tristrato in the heart of the city from October 3–5, inviting audiences to discover more than 150 artists and publishers from Greece and 35 countries worldwide.
Visitors will be able to explore the wide and polyphonic spectrum of independent publishing practices: zines, artist’s books, photo books, independent magazines, art monographs, poetry, research and critical writing, as well as other experimental forms that defy categorization.

The Public Program, featuring exhibitions and events designed to foster both broad awareness and deeper engagement, will present new publications from Greece, decentralized international initiatives, as well as complementary media that intersect with publishing practices, such as sound, performance, poetry, experimental music, and radio art.
The annual Collective Display serves as a complementary exhibition space to the festival’s main showcase, presenting over 100 artist’s publications by emerging Greek artists alongside international publishing initiatives. It also features a curated selection from the growing archive of the Athens Art Book Library.
Special focus is placed on thematic presentations of publishing projects of particular interest, including Esmat Publishes (Egypt), WARAQ (Lebanon), Tehran Zine (Iran), Kona Books (Georgia), Studio Pangolin (Croatia), Oficyna Peryferie (Poland), PrivatePrint (North Macedonia), Ediciones Caradura (Mexico), Lafat Bordieu (Chile), Editorial Tubito (Argentina), among others.

The festival opens on Friday, October 3 with live performances by exhibitors Lorena Marina and Maria No Pressure, while on Saturday, October 4, the AABF’s fourth collaboration with the publishing collective ΜΠΑΤΑΡΙΑ presents a queer poetry slam, celebrating poetry, hybridity, and disobedience.
For those unable to attend in person, Fade Radio will once again host a program of broadcasts focused on independent publishing practices, along with recordings from past editions of the festival (listen here).
