At the twilight of the spring equinox, a house beneath the Acropolis holds on to the last rays of sunlight. The sun, a source of light and life, becomes the starting point for Elisavet Moraki’s new solo exhibition, “It’s Always the Sun.”
In her photographs, nature takes on a leading role. The interior space transforms into a place of observation and quiet intensity; petals, shadows and fragrances disperse like whispers of blooming. Her photographic gaze focuses on flowers in bloom, which she approaches almost as if they were faces, motionless between light and darkness.
Elisavet Moraki was born, lives and works in Athens. She studied photography at the Athens Photographic Circle and at the University of the Arts London, and has presented her work in solo and group exhibitions in Greece and abroad. She published the photo book Lilium (Futura, 2008), while her new book It’s Always the Sun is expected to be released in March.
