Known for pushing the boundaries of the saxophone and redefining the solo performance, Colin Stetson will perform live at Gazarte – Ground Stage on 19th October 2024, in what promises to be an electrifying, immersive evening of music, produced by Scenius Series. An unforgettable musical journey as world-renowned saxophonist and composer Colin Stetson brings his mesmerizing soundscapes to Athens, for the first time, in the framework of his European tour.
His solo work bridges genres, from experimental jazz to minimalist composition and post-rock influence, often evoking cinematic landscapes and emotional depth. Colin Stetson, celebrated for his mastery of the saxophone, has carved out a unique space in the world of avant-garde music. His revolutionary approach involves intricate layers of sound created through circular breathing and complex mic arrangements that transform his instrument into a one-man orchestra. Stetson’s performances are characterized by an intense physicality, as he simultaneously weaves rhythm, melody, and harmony, creating an experience that is not just heard but felt.

Stetson’s extensive career includes collaborations with major artists such as Tom Waits, Arcade Fire, Bon Iver, TV On The Radio, Feist, Laurie Anderson, Lou Reed, Bill Laswell, Evan Parker, The Chemical Brothers, Animal Collective, Hamid Drake, LCD Soundsystem, The National, Angelique Kidjo, Fink and David Gilmore. He is also known for scoring hauntingly evocative soundtracks for films like Hereditary (2018), Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022), The Menu (2022) and Uzumaki (2023).
Stetson’s Athens performance will showcase his new album, The Love It Took to Leave You, released in September, live for the first time in Greece, alongside some of his best-known work from previous releases, such as the acclaimed New History Warfare series.
