Academy Award® nominee Joachim Trier returns with his highly anticipated new film, starring Renate Reinsve (The Worst Person in the World) and Stellan Skarsgård, opening in cinemas on September 11.

Sentimental Value is an intimate and profoundly moving exploration of family, memory, and the redemptive power of art.

As sisters Nora and Agnes grieve the loss of their mother, they must also confront the unexpected return of their estranged father, Gustav – a once-renowned filmmaker who has written a new script and offers Nora the lead role. When she refuses, Gustav gives the part to an ambitious young Hollywood actress, thrusting the sisters into a whirlwind of unresolved tensions, fragile memories, and shifting allegiances.

Following the international success of The Worst Person in the World-which premiered in competition at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival and earned two Academy Award nominations alongside BAFTA nods for Best Actress and Best International Feature-Trier delivers his most personal work yet: a tender, layered portrait of the bonds that bind us and the wounds that never fully heal.
