Swiss guitarist Louis Matute will give a concert as part of the 23rd Athens Jazz Festival on 28 May 2024 at 23:00 at Technopolis of the Municipality of Athens.
Louis Matute, a young guitarist from Geneva, is renowned for his skills as a performer and composer. After scouring the Swiss festivals, it wasn’t long before he was performing on the big stages of the Montreux Jazz Festival. In 2019, he received the Gully Jazz Festival prize, was part of the Artistes Associés à l’Abri residency program, and won the Jazz Contraband competition. In 2022, he also won the ZKB Audience Jazz Award in Zurich, the Evidence prize from the Académie du Jazz, and the first place in the TSF Jazz 2022 awards. In Athens, he will take us on a journey with his Large Ensemble to a melodically rich jazz world full of Latin aromas, creatively drawing on his Central American origins.
