Loo DJ Set at the New Gas Holder: Electronic Sounds Meet Industrial Heritage

A dynamic DJ set by Loo at the New Gas Holder brings electronic music into one of Athens’ most atmospheric industrial spaces

The Industrial Gas Museum once again transforms the iconic New Gas Holder building into a stage for contemporary music. On Friday, April 3 at 22:00, DJ, producer and composer Loo (Marilena Orfanou) takes over the decks for a dynamic DJ set inside one of Athens’ most distinctive industrial spaces.

Inside the 35-meter-high structure, surrounded by machinery that has been in operation since 1952, visitors will experience an atmospheric setting where electronic sounds intersect with industrial history. Loo’s dark electronic aesthetic, featuring synth elements and repetitive beats, resonates with the ritualistic character of the historic building and its unique industrial ambiance.

In a power plant that operated until 1984 and was for decades a male-dominated workplace, Loo’s music selection-with a focus on female artists-introduces today a new, dynamic and melodic voice into the same environment.

The event is part of an ongoing series of activities initiated by the Industrial Gas Museum, inviting contemporary creators to activate the historic site through DJ sets, performances and film screenings, opening a creative dialogue between contemporary art and industrial heritage.

The Museum’s activities are supported by Natural Gas Greek Energy Company, the major sponsor of the Industrial Gas Museum. As the country’s oldest energy provider, the company returns to its roots and actively contributes to highlighting industrial history and cultural heritage.

About Loo

Loo (aka Marilena Orfanou) is a DJ, producer, composer and performer active in electronic music, film and contemporary theatre. Her music moves between dance floors, dark theatres and cinematic narratives, blending synths, strings and dreamy vocals into a sound with strong darkwave and sadcore influences.

She is a founding member of the all-female electropop/punk projects Someone Who Isn’t Me, ZòNTAZòA and Berlin Brides. She has composed music for film, theatre and art festivals, collaborating with significant creators and institutions in Greece and abroad. In Athens’ underground dance scene, she stands out for her DJ sets that combine darkwave, electronic pulse and cinematic intensity.
