Fake Office presents Trilogy of the Eye, a collective narrative in three parts.

Part I – Sofia Dona, Katarakt
Part II – Yannis Papagiannakis, Looking
Part III – Konstantinos Lianos, Static Gaze

The exhibition explores the multifaceted concept of the gaze as experience, tool, and means of understanding. Through three distinct narratives, the participating artists examine the dynamics of the relationship between observer and observed. Vision—or its absence—becomes a starting point to investigate themes such as the connection between sight and perception and the ways in which the gaze shapes understanding within personal, social, and historical contexts.

Part I – Sofia Dona, Katarakt
Opening: Friday, December 13, 2024, 18:00-22:00
Duration: December 13, 14, 15, 2024

The Trilogy of the Eye begins with a visual distortion. The first part features Katarakt by Sofia Dona, a 25’40” video. The title refers both to the visual impairment that causes blurred vision and to the coastal village of Katarraktis on Chios Island, located 6.8 nautical miles from the Turkish coast. The work addresses issues of collective and personal memory, the complexity of observation, and the emotional distance created by spatial borders.

Part II – Yannis Papagiannakis, Looking
Opening: Friday, December 20, 2024, 18:00-22:00
Duration: December 20, 21, 22, 2024

The second part of the exhibition features Yannis Papagiannakis, who systematically photographed a public sculpture’s face over two years. Looking presents part of this on-site documentation for the first time, subtly linking the city’s history to urban myths and personal narratives, captured day and night.

Part III – Konstantinos Lianos, Static Gaze
Opening: Friday, December 27, 2024, 18:00-22:00
Duration: December 27, 28, 29, 2024

The exhibition concludes with Static Gaze by Konstantinos Lianos, an in situ installation at Fake Office. Lianos presents a sculptural figure devoid of sight. This figure, a kind of contemporary Atlas, reveals neither gender, identity, nor purpose, becoming part of the structure of the space, the city, and the world. The work experiments with the materiality of objects and their ability to serve a purpose.
