Witchberries dig up the skeletons hidden in the depths of music folklore

Theatre of the No, Αthens first English speaking theater, proudly presents “MURDER SONGS”, an extraordinary musical performance by the Witchberries, a groundbreaking musical duo known for their dark and mischievous character. They perform original compositions, put poetry to music, arrange world melodies and engage with multi-cultural polyphony. Their music blends elements of neo-ethnic, cabaret, jazz, rock, and classical genres. For one night only, on Saturday, December 7th, at 20.00.

In this music project, the Witchberries dig up the skeletons hidden in the depths of music folklore. Murder on land and sea, from the one side of the world to the other. Murder by biblical characters or mortals, committed of wrath or negligence, cruelty or indifference. Murder which sneaked its way into lyrics and tricked people into humming them absent-mindedly.

The Witchberries go up and down the octaves, drumming and strumming, and all but wonder: Is it fate or is it chance, which of the two inside of us will awake: The murdered or the murderer?

Information:

Performers: Gina Kardiolaka: piano, vocals, percussion, ukulele

Katerina Segou: vocals, percussion, metallophone, guitar
