“Common Grounds Festival”: A multicultural festival of coexistence and creation

1 min read

On Thursday, June 26, and Friday, June 27, the Great Lawn at the Stavros Niarchos Park in the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) transforms into an open space of coexistence and creativity, where cultures meet, communicate, and co-shape a common ground—through traditions, storytelling, arts, and sounds from different countries—during the Common Grounds festival.

The festival creates a vibrant and participatory space through cultural events, workshops, and interactive experiences open to the public, presented by the participating communities and organizations. At its core: dialogue and co-creation.

Common Grounds means shared space—but also shared experience

The SNFCC launched an open call to communities, groups, and collectives from around the world who live and are active in Greece, representing different cultures and countries. Embassies and associations from 13 countries responded (Albania, Argentina, Austria, Brazil, France, Germany, Georgia, Japan, India, Kenya, Mexico, Moldova, Norway), resulting in a rich and diverse program of activities—from Brazilian samba lessons, Kenyan traditional dances, and Argentine milonga, to Mexican piñata and Japanese ikebana workshops, as well as numerous sports activities and live music and dance performances.
Common Grounds invites the public to participate, interact, and discover different cultural traditions that highlight the shared grounds found within diversity.
